Video: Dean Kamen’s IBOT “Wheelchair” Power Chair

The IBOT is Dean Kamen’s on-road, off road, all terrain, stair climbing, power chair (“wheelchair”) which can also go into two wheel mode to raise the rider into a higher, more eye-level position.

It isn’t exactly new, but it is actually out in the real world; instead of being just some super cool prototype in a lab.

Video: Hacking a Wii Remote into a Multi-Touch System

I love TED videos; the WOW factor of many of these is off the charts!  How about taking a $40 Wii remote and creating the equivalent of a multi-thousand dollar whiteboard, a multi-touch interface, or even a head tracking system!  I am just floored by the innovation shown here!

I was recently having trouble getting my local Social Security office to process some Social Security forms. After multiple attempts to resolve the problem via telephone and mail, I simply went down to the local Social Security office on Academy Boulevard.

The counter person was polite, but ultimately got tired of dealing with me because I would not leave the documents to be processed “later.”

So, I was told to sit down and wait, someone would get to me “later.” When I asked if someone would see me before Social Security closed, I was told again to just have a seat. The discussion was getting heated and the security guard was starting to circle my position.
